Breakfast Club Meeting

DISABILITIES:

  STAGES OF CHILD DEVELOPMENT PART II 

The Breakfast Club meeting was held on Friday, May 15, 2009, at 8:00 A.M.  The topic was “Disabilities:  Stages of Child Development Part II,” presented by Janie Olvera, Counselor/Mental Health Coordinator at Dr. Tomas Rivera Elementary. 

Ms. Olvera presented an overview of the Stages of Human Development from birth to five years.  As Ms. Olvera was explaining the stages, the parents were sharing their life experiences in rearing their children.

Ms. Olvera explained that this is only an overview.  Parents need to understand that not all children develop at the same time, but this gives them an idea of what to expect at different stages.  Parents should be observant and if the development is not within the norm, then these are good observations that need to be shared with the doctor.
