Local Hero Serving in Afghanistan

You see the word hero and you think superman or you thing of a guy in a cape and tights fighting the bad guys, without ever realizing he could just be the guy next door trying to do the right thing.

If you look up the word in the dictionary if refers to “a character who in the face of danger or adversity or from a position of weakness displays courage and the will for self sacrifice and the greater good.”

Lance Corporal Rodrigo Rodriguez, serving in the Marines is a Crystal City High School alumni who graduated in 2004 and enlisted in November 2008, recently deployed to Afghanistan.
