Ricky Rios Jr. Cross Country State Alternate

Ricky Rios Jr. and Matthew Puente competed at the UIL 4A Cross Country Championships in Corpus Christi on Monday, October 25, 2021.  Both runners had a tremendous outing, Freshman Ricky Rios Jr. ran an outstanding race and placed 11^th qualify him to be the 4A State Alternate.  Ricky narrowly missed advancing by one spot, the top ten individuals advance to the State Cross Country Meet.  Ricky already has his sight set on becoming the 4A Regional Cross Country Champion and advancing to the State Meet next year.  Also competing was senior Matthew Puente.  Matthew has been a dedicated cross-country runner since his junior high years.  He ran an outstanding race and his leadership will greatly be miss next season. Ricky Rios Jr. is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Ricardo & Tiana Rios and Matthew Puente is the son of Mr. Martin Puente and Hortencia Balboa.  Thank you for to the awesome cross-country fans who followed us throughout the season.
